sounds like a plan, but I have not tried.  but that precludes any re-edits
of 2.6+ worked images w/o a method in place to revert if needed.

I cannot see much difference, though.  if you choose to revert, simple
matter to remove "*.xmp" files and the 3.0+ library would need to be
replaced with the backup from 2.6+.

might be just as easy to backup ~/.config/darktable and work *only* on new
photos in *specific* directories knowing if you revert, those xmp files
would need to be removed and ~/.config/darktable restored from backup.
