It depends on your motherboard, but I had to switch to a newer kernel
than with Ubuntu 18.04, e.g onboard NIC and Wifi.

Yes, my motherboard takes longer to check, than the system boots.

I bought one from MSI which is silent, when not heavy used, a little
bit more expensive, payed about 220€ before Christmas. I hear it when I
do a export, but not when I do editing with DT.

Don't forget to check your system, if everything is fine. I had very
strange behaviours. And test a few times, because the 1st time, modules
have to be compiled for faster local usage.
