Beg pardon - my request was poorly formulated.
DT: 3.0.2
O/S:Linux Mint 20 Cinnamon
Module: Using 'monochrome' module (just as a test for my learning of DT)
Settings: I tried configuring a test preset in monochrome by using my
mouse to adjust the virtual color filter and then saving this as a
preset with the 'auto apply this preset to matching images' option enabled.
I tried setting the individual selection parameters to match known
images ('known' on the basis of data from the image information panel),
but no images, which I thought were 'matching', were converted to
monochrome.
I tried setting the selection parameters to, effectively, 'select all',
but again no images were converted to monochrome when a folder is
imported. Conversion does take place when I open the darkroom on an
individual image - but only that image is converted. That is why I say
the 'auto apply' acts more like 'manual apply' . I would have to go
through the process of opening each image in darkroom individually to
convert the whole film-roll. And that seems like defeating the purpose
of 'auto apply'.
So where is my understanding inadequate?
One question which comes to mind: when is the 'auto apply' action
designed to take place - when a *new* image/folder is first imported, or
when an image in an *existing* film-roll is selected in light-table, or
when an *existing* image is opened in darkroom?

I have defined a preset and enabled the 'auto apply this preset to matching
images'. I find that the 'auto' part works only when I select the list of
presets for that module and click on the specific preset that I have
defined: i.e. I have to apply the 'auto' part manually. This applies no
matter how 'wide' I set the parameters for the preset. What am I failing to
understand ?
dt version
operating system
which module and what parameters
