Hi, updating the database did the job:
UPDATE images SET datetime_taken = '2014:04:05 11:11:11' WHERE film_id = 199 Alternatives on Windows: 1. XnView is able to alter the datetime of the picture prio to import (I decided not to take the risk of manipulating the image) 2. Updating the xmp-file and let darktable check for updated xmp files on startup should work, but this take quite long if the database contains many pictures... Hi, Thanks for all the answers. For me chancing the date directly in the darktable database seems the easiest. I'll have a look into that soon and let you know how I did it. The reason for the missing metadata is that I do not have the RAWs but only exports from Lightroom done without metadata... Or because they were taken long ago, with a camera that did not embed the information. Or... ther may be so many reasons. :-( It is possible to do almost everything from within the database - I once succeeded in modifying the path to a series of photos. You could also use exiv2 (or even xnvew, if I am not wrong) to embed the information into the files (make a backup of them before, because this may alter your files in a way that further versions of dt are not able to read thepm anymore).
