Unfortunately, I cannot get ahold of the thread, but it happened to me so... :-(
What I try to prevent the OP from doing is launching the filemanager from the
cli using SU privileges : sudo nautilus.
This, indeed, allowed me to copy files to unaccessible locations with the GUI,
in an easier way and faster than from pure cli, but then it corrupted my system.
Well, this did not happen immediately. It took a few months before I could
notice strange things happening.
I got help from forumers, and then learnt that what I had done was one of the
worst things not to do.
They explained to me what happened and why. I must get ahold of this thread
again.
Of course, sudo cp may turn to bad things too, depending of what you do. But
sudo nautilus will always corrupt the system.
