I would *guess* you have something amiss in your library.db or darktablerc7, re: deleted ~/.config/darktable but your original xmp still causes problems, so your ~/.config/darktable is probably ok and the darktablerc. either your xmp is borked or you have some modules out-of-order that darktable cannot read/apply correctly.
