Hi,
*whereas dt is supposed to export only lossy(??) JPG?? is not a
correct statement. *In the export module you have the ability to set the
export module as you see fit. I actually make presets in this module that
include JPG being placed in the same folder as original or 16 bit Tiff
files being placed in the same folder as original. I personally use the 16
bit Tiff files as my archival export of images from Darktable as these can
then be edited further in programs such as GIMP. In Adobe's Lightroom there
is an option in the export process to have the newly created image added or
not added to the catalog. I am not aware of a similar option in Darktable.
The workaround is to just import the folder again into Darktable so that
the new images are added. I also just tested this process with a PNG and
Darktable recognised the image fine.
