hey

i think you've got a valid usecase there, but it seems it's not so
easy to beat libtiff into using a particular byte order
(http://www.libtiff.org/libtiff.html#ByteOrder).

why don't you use 16-bit png? or exr? or pfm? that will have most
precision but no metadata.

tiff is a terrible, ancient file format with way too many weird
switches. if i could i would drop support for it in darktable today..
