Do you know exiftool?

Ask in the exiftool forum for details and for your special needs. I am
running a bash-script to do some changes of the original file.

I didn't try it with dt, but i assume, that there will be a problem, if
you modify the date of the original later, so the xmp-file has another
date. This situation could be, if you modify all dates to adjust the
gps-synchronization, but started imageprocessing before.

But I agree, that you should be very carefuly when modifying originals.
I do this only to correct the time for gps-synchronization.
