Even if, it only solves part of the problem, as you'd need
to go back to dt to work on such an image anyway.

This IMHO will not work as any other processing software
would then need to interface with dts modules. That's IMHO
the primary reason why DT should do metadata properly, and
also be the image database. (Being able to write lock
certain parts would be appreciated then.)
