It's a little trickier than that because (per _Light: Science & Magic_),
you do lose some detail when an exposure is shifted too far to the right
(overexposure) even when there are no blown highlights.  So yeah, best
exposure is what I'm looking for, but with some emphasis on overexposure
that avoids details loss in shadow areas.  Choosing is double-tricky
because you need to check the photo for the details you're most
interested in preserving.

(For example, I took a lot of photos of sunsets with backlit mountains,
so there's severe shadow of the mountains.  I would like the shots that
have the "best" cross between sunset detail/color and mountain detail.)

What would be likely best for this purpose (although likely against the
design rules of the DT coders) would be a cross between lighttable and
darktable mode that allows multiple images to be worked on at a time.
I'm pretty sure I've seen other people requesting this for other reasons.

Another option might be a "simple filmstrip" mode for lighttable that
shows extra info for a series of photos (EXIF, histogram, etc).
