Good evening all.

I'm a real newbie to digital photography, and working with darktable.
Bought my first camera (Nikon D7100) a few weeks ago after not taking
photographs for a long time. I'm running Open SuSE 12.3 on a dual boot
machine with Windows 7 as the other OS.

After reading the first RAW pictures everything seemed fine on first
glance, but a closer look revealed some strange effects (version 1.1.3).
Everything is correctly recognized, even the camera is titled correctly,
but the list cameras does not show my model. The images are ok. So I
followed the instructions in the faq and everything was shown correctly
from the DNG and dcraw was able to convert to a tiff file.

Next step was to setup everything to compile the new version of
darktable and lensfun, but my camera was still not presented. I took a
closer look at lensfun and found the file containing all that
lens/camera stuff. I simply added my camera and it's shown in the menu,
but I'm bit uncertain if that's all. I have no problems
compiling/editing files, I work as a software engineer, but I do not
want to mess up my box to much hehe.

For me it seems to be hard to determine which lib is used for what
purpose and what to do if something is not supported. By the way my lens
is supported.

The software does a real good job as far as I can tell from 'newbie'
point of view.

Best regards, Wolfgang
