I am pretty sure, that this is becoming more and more important,
especially with small high end compact cameras and big and heavy
lenses. IMHO, the question ist how important it is to set automatic
values from the raw file with other things than lens-correction. The
RX100 seems to be one of the 1st cameras, which does this. While lens
correction is a must with such lenses, other things like white balance
is not so important (IMHO), eg. But of course it would be nice, to have
an optional setting, which shows the values the camera had used, when a
jpg is created.

Reading the net re this topic, I think other image processors did a
reverse engineering to use the Sony settings.

It turns out that the RX-100 is not the only camera to do this - other
high-end cameras have been doing it for years. Every single Hasselblad
H-series body (those with a dedicated digital back) corrects for its
28mm f/4 lens this way, as has Phase One.

So I am discussing of a feature which professionals use!

I think the lens is already calibrated:

/usr/share/lensfun/compact-sony.xml

If I should upload samples, let me know.
