Hi all. Not sure if I should be posting this here or on the dev list,
but I'm not exactly a developer.

Noticing that there weren't any noise reduction profiles for my LX7, I
grabbed the latest git repository and followed the instructions here:
http://www.darktable.org/2012/12/profiling-sensor-and-photon-noise/ to
create noise profiles at all ISO levels.

You can download the resulting tarball here:
http://files.deryk.co.uk/dt-noiseprofile-20140224.tar.gz
Hopefully they'll be suitable for adding to future versions.

This is my first time doing anything like this so please do check the
results and forgive any silly errors. I read and attempted to digest
the information on the page, but in all honesty quite a lot of the
technical explanation on how noise reduction works went "whoosh!" over
my head (I found my mathematical limits way back at age 17) and so I
just went ahead and ran the "gen-profile" script. The results look good
to me on the images I've tried, but I've not tested the silly-high ISOs
yet as I never go above 1600 on this camera.

I noticed that it doesn't seem to do much on-screen (performance reasons
I suppose), but once the image is exported the noise reduction is
fantastic - in wavelets mode I'd say it's on par with the top secret
proprietary jpeg processing built into the camera.

I'm not sure if it matters at all, but all profiling images were taken
at 16:9 (it's a multi aspect sensor, rather than a cropping type).
Higher ISOs were more tricky to keep out of focus due to having to close
up the aperture and gain a bit too much depth of field, but I think they
were unfocused enough.

Cheers
Deryk
