Since you ask for opinions …

All of your suggestions seem sensible if managing a huge collections of styles,
however I struggle to think of a use case where a large style collection would
be useful. I used to have a few styles for pre-canned noise reduction settings
against different ISO values and cameras but even that is redundant now that dt
has its excellent profiled denoise module.

I think that if I really wanted to maintain a library of standard ‘look and
feel’ styles I wouldn’t use dt styles for that at all. What I would probably
do is have a folder with original image and multiple differently processed
versions so that I could visually select a ‘style’ and then just cut and paste
its stack to the desired target images. There again the last thing I actually
want to do is to apply pre-set styles to my images so feel free to ignore
anything I say on the subject ☺

Rob.

Subject: [Darktable-users] Style management

Hi.

I have a suggestion for a couple of features on style management.

Folders/categories for organizing your styles. If you have more than just a few
styles, it can get pretty messy and confusing. It would be awesome to be able
to organize styles into folders or, at least, assign them a category to be able
to manage your style collection more effectively.

Import/export multiple styles. If you have many styles and want to export them
all you have to do it one by one. This can time time consuming and frustrating.
It would be nice if you can export a set of styles to a zip file and be able to
import them in another installation.

What's your opinion on this?

Best regards.
