This would also make life a lot easier if you have multiple and/or 
temporary db-files probably on various hosts.

Generally, I think it would make interchange easier. And I admit, that I 
like to have presets/configs in git (or something similar). Besides that 
is is a really good way for backups of such things it comes in handy if 
you migrate from one host to another etc. One can easily git a file, but 
it doesn't make any sense to git library.db.

Agree. Even autoimport on startup for an empty db could come in handy.
