I just got a Nikon D7100 to replace my Nikon D90. I also have a Nikon D800, but often it is preferable to use a lighter DX format camera.
I also got a Nikkor 70-300 mm VR lens to use taking pictures of my granddaughters playing soccer. On the D7100, I get the equivalent of 450 mm on a full frame camera. When I use Lens Correction in darktable, it initially shows the camera and lens, but since the lensfun database doesn't seem to know about the D7100, it doesn't do any correction. If I specify the camera to be a D7000, it allows me to choose my lens and it presumably does the right correction. So my first question: Am I right in assuming that there are no differences between the D7000 and D7100 relative to darktable's Lens Correction? My second question: My 70-300 mm lens works for FX format, so I can use it on my D800, but the lensfun database for this lens refers to using it in DX format. I presume that means that I can't just use the D7000 Lens Correction for this lens on a D800. Could I go far off if I did that anyway? Is there any chance of an entry for my lens on a D800 appearing any time soon? Or, if I need it, should I do my own lens calibration? -- Leonard Evens [email protected] Professor Emeritus, Department of Mathematics, Northwestern University -- Leonard Evens [email protected] Professor Emeritus, Department of Mathematics, Northwestern University ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Learn Graph Databases - Download FREE O'Reilly Book "Graph Databases" is the definitive new guide to graph databases and their applications.
