I did some tests with the cameras. >> I have a set of jpg and dng files (different cameras). > What camera produces the "dng" raw files? I don't have a camera which produces DNG-RAW-files. It is a DNG-conversion of RAWs from ORF-Olympus E-450, RW2-Panasonic G5. > Why are you converting to "dng"? Before I started using RAW I though using only one common Raw-Format would be a good idea. Later I found out that darktable doesn't like the ORF-format of my OLympus E-450. Converted to DNG either by Linux DNG (digikam-kipi) or adobe's DNG converter solved that problem. > >> ... when I change the rating tags within >> darktable, the dng.xmp [doesn't change its access date] which isn't really a big problem as I don't mind that darktable's ratings aren't shown in digikam, but most annoying is the following: >> Additionally when I start darktable, a window pops up and offers >> reloading or overwriting selected xmp-files, which in the end are those >> belonging to the [adobe] dng files. It seems that the problem is related to DNGs produced by adobe's converter. No problem when converted within Linux programs. >> ... > ... > Why not use darktable for your workflow and forgo digikam completely. I have GBs of digikam tagged photos and I like the Unix principle: One program for one task. digikam for [extensive) tagging and darktable for raw-developing seems perfect. cu Peter ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ New Year.
