First, this matrix is a linear approximation of the colour rendition
of the camera, as as all linear approximations, they don't work well
in extreme cases.

And secondly, perfect colour/whitebalance/contract/whatever
reproduction does not necessarily lead to the perfect image.
"Correct" is not always "beautiful".

The JPEG processors in cameras are closer to "beautiful" than to
"correct".
