Sharpening is already activated by default, with reasonable settings. Essentially, I use the sharpen module for two things: 1) for sharp pictures, to get them a little sharper (because even with perfect focus and a very good lens, the bayer filter, the optical imperfections of the lens and all all make the image slightly softer than it could be). Then, the default settings are OK to me. 2) for blurry images, to compensate in post-processing for what I didn't get right while shooting. Then, the only way to know which settings are best is to experiment. Usually, I move the sliders right until I start finding the image a bit overshapened, and I move back left. In this case, the "highpass" module (blend with "overlay") is very helpful too. The radius is "how blury your image is" and the amount is "how much cheating can you accept to get your image a sharp look". -- Matthieu Moy http://www-verimag.imag.fr/~moy/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ _______________________________________________ Darktable-users mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/darktable-users
