The only valid option. The original data has a resolution of 90 meters.
More appropriate could be the improved and combined data:
https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/SRTM#In_use
OpenDEM lists several more accurate data sources: http://www.opendem.info/
Another project: https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/OSM-3D.org

So, how could we get the data from these sources on an automated way?
