Hi,

I'm just going through darktable's 2.x configuration settings.

It seems that over time that the hdd-thumbnail cache may take up quite a
bit of storage space, which doesn't really matter nowadays with TB-hdds
and caching the thumbnails is in my opinion a great idea.
The question is whether thumbnails are worth to be included in backups,
which take up time, and that to decide would be nice for the user.

I, for example, wouldn't care and preferred an option to direct the
thumbnails to some hdd- or even SSD space. There is some which I usually
don't bother to backup.

In short: What about including an option for redirecting the thumbnail
cache to a user selected location?
