Hello Darktable users!
I have a problem trying to use the lighttable view and I wonder if you
could help.
When I first import my raw files (Nikon NEFs), I can review them nicely in
the lighttable. Zooming to full screen gives me a nice looking image, and I
can use the left and right arrows to move through the current collection.
After I edit an image, however, the preview shown in lighttable view looks
very bad. Even if I only change whitebalance, the preview is now very low
resolution. If I crop the image, the preview becomes absolutely terrible.
It is as though the preview is based on a VERY low resolution version of
the image.
I have tried changing the setting "High quality thumb processing from
size." Originally it was 720p, I have set it to 4k, and I don't see a
difference. My monitor is 1920x1080, so 4k is more than enough resolution
for full-screen. Do I need to do something to apply the new setting to
files already in my library?
My solution for now is to always export my images and then view the JPG
files with another program. But this means I cannot enjoy darktable's great
tagging and searching, since in order to see what the image actually looks
like I must export it.
The slideshow mode almost solves my problem, but I cannot go backwards,
only forwards, and it is a little bit laggy since it is processing the full
image.
Any suggestions or advice would be much appreciated!
