Tim, You were right about the version problem (I was wrong about version I had in earlier post)...I simply changed to DP23x and it worked fine, didn't have to do anything else.
Thanks so much for your help! Jon, Earlier I thought you said you were using DP 2.6g but now you say 2.6e. I don't recall exactly which version it was where Lew changed it so that printer control codes get included in the output file. Earlier versions of DP only included the printer control codes when DPPrint was active. But Lew changed that so that DPSpool could work. Try using the latest version of DP available from the website to see if that makes any difference for you. Also, suspend printing with DPSpool and then go look at the contents of a print job file within DPSpool. Click on DPSpool's Suspend Printing button. Run your DP report to create the file. Click on DPSpool's Manage Print Jobs button. Highlight your print job file in the list (if it isn't already highlighted). Click on the View File button. Within your file, you should see some odd characters where your control codes are. If you click on the character it will reveal what the ASCII value of the character is (what you entered between the < > brackets). If you don't see any control codes that means that DP isn't sending them to the file and you need the later version of DP. As for the order of codes, usually it doesn't matter but there are certain codes (detailed in the help file) that must come at the very beginning of the document (or page) to take effect on that page. These are typically only those that deal with the printer's paper handling (orientation, duplexing, size, tray, etc.). Hi Everyone (& Tim if you're out there): Still can't get DPspool to work with DP2.6e. Those printer codes, fonts, & margins seem to be ignored and go to default Courier 10 with 10 lines/inch spacing, no margins. Underline and bold printer codes DO WORK and the printer DOES print the reports, just wrong font, margins, etc. 1. I tried changing printers, didn't help (Okidata 10ex and Brother 1440, both are DOS/Windows printers but they automatically go Windows mode when windows is connected). 2. I put the printers codes in first page header AND other page header as well...still no luck. 3. I tried various font names (case specific) listed for WinXP (all true type fonts)...latest trial was Dauphin, I checked these fonts with font viewer in Wordpad so they should work. 4. I double checked print queue location, it's where it should be in "c:\programs\dpspool", program "sees" print jobs requested and prints when I look at DPspool print manager. 5. I tried printing directly from WinXP to local printer, and also from my Win2000 home server to it's attached printer. 6. I edited the default printer on the INI file (see attachment) with same printer code settings. 7. I RELOADED Visual Basic 6.0 and latest patch. For what it's worth, here are my printer codes in the order I placed them in first page header (DOES THE ORDER MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE?): 8 lines per inch <213><0><8><213> Font name <244>FDauphin<244> Font point size <244>P9<244> Font width ratio <244>W75<244> Set left margin <192><0><0><12><0><192> I put these codes all under their own printer code headings. Any help appreciated! Thanks.
