Tim - it was simply using " " in formula rather than 0 in the latter section
that was causing the problem

Quote: "Whenever DP does something unpredictable it has been because I
screwed up..."

Brian - so very very true :-) Mixing text with number fields - how could I
do that after all this time?
Glad to hear all is going OK. I'm down to a four day week too but I think I
know what you mean - the other three days each week spent working finishing
off parents new house and the nights spent video editing and DVD production
of multi- camera shoots (weddings etc) in quite a big way - something that
the DP - LA conference got me started into.
Annaleys exercise organisation had their NZ 70th birthday Celebrations
recently so I have a 2 x DVD set to produce for the attendees including the
160 or so that came from the UK and SA. Syncing 4-5 hours of exercise to
music from a couple of cameras is a little time consuming. Still with
"working" only 4 days a week - never had more spare time in my life? Ha
Ha.

Thanks to you all for your input

Regards

Colin

Hi Colin,

Fatherhood is going very well... I have cut my official working days to

3

days a week, and look after the boy on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, well.. at
least, that is the theory. In reality I get up very early and go to bed
very late those days...

Glad you picked up my deliberate typo with the 0.09 -> 0.00 :-) That
was to see if you were watching ...

You seem to be getting the output from HZZZ.Z9 that I would expect from
GZZZ.Z9 I presume this is being output on a standard screen or print
report...

It's really curious because one of the things I love about DP is that it

is

totally predictable... I have just been going through the nightmare of
upgrades from some very complex Access 2000 applications to Access 2003,

and

you would not believe the seemingly minor variations that have taken hours
to fix and workaround... Fortunately the data part seems to all be fine,
its just variations in the interface elements, in code that has worked
flawlessly for 7 years... Whenever DP does something unpredictable it

has

been because I screwed up...

Bye
Brian

Hi Colin,

Are you sure the HZZ9.Z9 or HZZZ.Z9 doesn't work?

For me with 2.6x the format "HZZ9.Z9" causes the display of :

48.90 as "48.90"
48.09 as "48.09"
48.00 as "48.00"
0.90 as " 0.90"
0.09 as "0.00"
0.00 as " "
0 as " "

Regards
Brian

Subject: [Dataperf] Not printing zero'd decimal fields

Hi All,

Trying to NOT print zero'd decimal fields - and not getting there :-(

Take a GZZZ.Z9 field and print as HZZZ.Z9 and if field is zero, still

get

.00 printing. Can achieve with ;;E designator but then $48.00 prints

as

$48
Ideally when the dollars are greater than 1, I want the cent value to
print
even if the cents are zero - just want it to be blank/(print nothing)

when

both the dollars and cents are zero. Used H fields before

successfully

but

this must be the first time that I've included a decimal point.

Shock -

horror when it didn't work
I'm sure there's a work-around - Anyone know of one? ( I'm using

DP26X)

Thanks

Regards

Colin Roberts
