Hi, Ralph,
Now I see the specifications table in the spiral-bound copy of your book
that I bought from you all those years ago. (Thanks again for that - it has
helped me so much over the years!!) It seems that the lowest limit on DP
(at least in my usage of it) is the TXX file, since all the other limits are
so high that I don't think I would ever even get close. Since the records I
am storing are mainly narrative medical reports, all the report bodies go in
the TXX file, so it got filled up with only about 205,000 reports. Now I
know that I'll have to keep an eye on this limit for my other databases
also, and purge records before they get to the point where I have caused
them to fail.
Thanks again for your help!
Laurie

Specifications of all DP files are listed in a table on page 30 in the PDF
version of my book. That's where I grabbed that number. Not a chance I'd
remember that.

Hi, Ralph,
If the limit is 534,773,728 bytes, it would appear that hitting that size
limit is probably the cause of my problem, as the current file size of my
TXX file is 536,871,424 bytes. Oops!
I have made a backup copy of my database and I am now in the process of
deleting old records. I have about 6 years of records in this database,
so I think I can probably delete about a year and a half as a good
balance
between having access to the old records and yet having room for new
records. I guess from now on I will have to make a point of checking the
TXX file size periodically so as to avoid problems like this in the
future.
Thank you all for all your help!!!
Laurie

By the way, Ralph, do you know what the size limit is for the *.TXX
file?
534,773,728 bytes.
