Thanks Paul

Good advice but I thought of that, and is in fact using exactly the same
type of keyboard on the two PC's. Still, I'll try to change the KB on
the offending PC. It is worth a try. Paul I's advice also appreciated.

I'll report back on what happens with the different "cures"

Thanks again

Jens

Subject: Re: [Dataperf] Problems with Exit (F7) from SHELL menu under XP

Jen: Obviously it could be a software or setup problem, but I had
terrible problems of the type you describe when running DOS programs on
one PC, and it was due to the keyboard. It was always shifting into
"shifted" state and wouldn't come out of it (which meant you couldn't
use F7 to exit). You might try using another keyboard with that PC.

Dear all Dataperfect users

I normally use DP under Shell (the version of Shell.exe from 1991). When
I put the various parameters right for Windows to run this (memory etc.)
this goes smoothly. But on one particular PC (Win XP) I cannot exit
(close) the SHELL menu with F7. The only way is to exit is via
Taskmanager (Shell does not die, nor does the PC, I just cannot close
shell). It puzzles me, for on another PC with (seemingly) the same
parameters fro running Shell under XP I have no such problem. Does any
of you have a clue?

I also discovered that if I do not set my parameters right in XP I often
get "strange" characters when using some of the function keys in DP,
especially F7 and its shifted combinations (whether under shell or not).
I am not sure exactly what goes on, but this I seem to have solved - at
least for the moment)

With bets regards
Jens Hoeg
