It has been a while since I used direct printing (only remaining DP app 
in production doesn't print), but if I recall correctly, the way I got 
this to work in XP, was to share the USB printer (say, as "MyPrinter").  
Then use:  "net use lpt2: \\MyComputer\MyPrinter" command to map the usb 
printer.   -chris
