HI Don, Sorry about the late reply to this earlier question but it was sent but did not arrive. Re: your second point I had the same problem years ago. It was basic file corruption. You should run chkdsk or schedule a chkdsk with the fsutil command or through windows manage computer. If your ste file is corrupt there is a good chance your data files might be corrupt. It is a given that anytime a computer freezes or is shut down abnormally that windows self corrupts. In my experience disk/file system corruption is the number one cause of most computer problems aside from hardware issues. Re: Indexing. Solid state drives are cheap and perfect for making data perfect operation and indexing a light speed experience. I have used solid state drives including for DP as far back as the 90's when they were $5000 for 512MB. Now they are less than $1 per GB. Regards Eric Donn Director J.I.T. As in changing MCCARTHY to McCarthy? I'm about to undertake this to see how it goes but if someone has done it it would be helpful. Obviously there's no great trick to it other than writing a very, very long formula. Secondly, on one of my larger voter databases that was acting just fine yesterday, when I opened it up this morning the colors changed on my basic panel listing and report writing screens. I went in to the STE file and saw that there was a bit of corruption in the header area which I was able to correct without having to reindex (that takes all night plus some . . . ) but I'm wondering how often any of you find that happening.
