Peter, Vdos is really the first option to think about. But I would like
to ask more about your current environment. How are you running DP ?
The server is just for file sharing (database sharing) or you are
running DP in it ? Are there more PCs running DP or just the server ?
Are there any other programs running in this server or it is just a file
server ? Is there any sensitive data (plans, secret files or alike) that
need any special security ? The reason for the upgrade is that Microsoft
gave the eol (end of life) to WIn 2003 server to July,14. But this
doesn't mean that the server will stop or anything will blow away. It
means just that they are going to stop support the product and stop to
issue security updates , which is the worst part. If have some
protection already running in your network ( A good firewall, for
example), removed Internet explorer from the server , and has a good
backup policy, you can delay the upgrade a little bit. I'm already
running Windows XP at the office (more that 1 year after its EOL) and
no problem found so far. Obviously that I'll need to upgrade but we'll
do most for hardware issues but we don't have too much security needs.
It most a pressure from MS to push the upgrades and cash in than real
problems.

Hi All,
This summer it will be 21 years since I first started with DP to run
our family business Boekestijn transport & logistics in the
Netherlands. Currently working from 4 countries, 6 locations, 30+
users, all in one DP system which runs on a windows 2003 server.
Our hardware supplier is making the statement that within 6 months
there is an urgent need to upgrade our servers to windows server 2012.
They have tested several solutions for dosboxes and the result is
negative. But… I don’t believe them that this will kill our dos
application.
Any ideas from the DP user group? Please help and let good old dos /
DP live forever.
A cry for help from Holland
Grtz Peter Boekestijn
