Right. Which is why Devel::StackTrace and Carp *ought* to be utilizing overload::StrVal calls under those circumstances. From the overload POD:


   overload::StrVal(arg)
      Gives string value of "arg" as in absence of stringify
      overloading.

Hence, "buggy" behavior from those digging tools. Perhaps we (or I) should motivate and provide patches to those two projects.
