Steve,

You are correct.
With the "loady" I'm able to download the images directly from minicom.

Here is what I did

EVM # loady Then in minicom I send the file /uImage.Now the image is
updated; I can go ahead with NAND write procedures after then.

I thank you a lot for this update

Cheers,
Deepak

I had better luck with ymodem than kermit when using minicom. Use loady
and send the file similarly. Make sure the ymodem binary is available
as well. Minicom may not give you an error even if it is not
installed.

        Hi Josh,

        Thanks a lot for update.
I am trying the kermit mode - I did the following

        EVM # loadb
Ready for binary (kermit) download to 0x80700000 at 115200bps

Then in my minicom I did a Ctrl-A Z and choose the uImage in
location /uImage

After this there is no more activity in the EVM# prompt.

Should the uImage be put in some specific path or so?

        Cheers
        Deepak

I'm not sure about the Davinci (I haven't tried yet). But on
other projects, using the Gumstix processor, I was able to transfer the
kernel using Uboots Kermit serial protocol. I would think you could do
the same for U-boot.

        Hi,

I'm a newbie to both Linux and davinci.

Could someone tell me if its possible to update the U-Boot and
the Kernel through the serial download.

My target board does not have an Ethernet port and it would not
be possible to me to do a tftp on it.

So the only possibility is JTAG, and I'm interested in onfield
upgrades.

Please note, I'm not referring to the booting Linux from UART-
but to update the U-boot and the Kernel present in the NAND through
UART.

Do we have to do some tailoring in the U-boot coming with the
standard dvevm.

Any other pointers are greatly welcome

        Cheers,

        Deepak Shankar V
