Hi List,
We have several Websphere v3.5 installations on Solaris v5.6, using DB2 v6.1, with Websphere and DB2 on the same node. We now want to implement another Websphere with the DB2 server on a different Solaris node. We will install the DB2 components separately to enable full control over names, placement etc. The DB2 server was installed with no problems (touch wood). However, the doco, both DB2 and Websphere, is at best sketchy on the requirements for installing a DB2 client, eg the Websphere Handbook A.2.3.2 states "...you need to install the DB2 clients on the Websphere node." Thanks!
My reading is:
- need to install the DB2 Client, the Runtime Environment, DB2 Connect and an Admin client on the Websphere node;
- need to create a new instance on the Websphere node;
- need to create an Admin instance on the Websphere node;
- need to configure the node and database directories on the Websphere node to acces the WAS database on the DB2 server node
Can someone please confirm that all required DB2 components are listed above? Any that are not required? Is the above procedurally correct (albeit at a very high level)?
Any gotchas or words of wisdom?
Thanks in anticipation for your help,
