RE: DB2EUG: Connecting from CAE 6.1 to Db2 V2.1 in OS/2

Hi All,

    Sorry for the late response from my side. As told by Pierre, I checked up the Quick Beginnings and there is no hint as to whether its possible to connect from 6.1 client to 2.1 server or not. Also, the services file has nothing related to db2. So, i added the following line

    db2tcp     523/tcp

and configured the tcpip communications for the db2 instance as svcename=db2tcp. but still am not able to make connection. i also tried port 3700. still it didnt work out for me. Am just thinking as to which server version should i upgrade so as to establish connection from V6.1/7.1 clients.

Siresh,  I think you need to verify your Quick Beginngs for V6.1 client install.
As far as I remembr, you cannot connect aV6.1 client to V2.1 server.
Normal support from IBM in different versions is two levels down, one level up.  This mewans:
Vx client can connect to Vx-2 server.  V6.1 client therefore would allow you to connect to V5.2 or V5.0 server.
I may be off by one version but the Quick Beginnings and/or the release notes for your V6.1 client should tell you.

The CCA and Generate Profile require the SERVER to be at V5.0 at least if not V5.2.
All of these functions were V5.0 and up for servers.

        We have a OS/2 server with DB2 V2.1. I want to connect to a database in the server from a windows client DB2 V6.1. I am not able to find the default port to give the connection information manually from the CCA. Also there is no option to 'Generate Access Profile' and then use the access profile. Also, if I use the search method in CCA its not listing the server. Whereas I am able to ping to the server from the client. Can anyone help me out in achieving the connection to the server database??
