V2.1 Servers are not supported any more and there is no way to connect a V6.1 client to a V2.1 server.
Support for down level connections is two down:
At this point this means that you can connect a V6.1 client to a V5.2 server or at most a V5.0 server, no lower.
Support for up level connections is one up:
At this point this means taht you can connect a V6.1 client to V7.1.2 server but not a V7.2 ( then again V7.2 is also known as V7.1.3 so it may be possible, check the release notes of V7.1.3)
I don't think that any settings of DBM CFG parms will allow you to do so. Functionality changes too much in two versions for a down level server to be able to support clients up two levels. After al, V2.1 shipped in 06/95 if I remember well and V6.1 in fall 1999?

As far as I remembr, you cannot connect aV6.1 client to V2.1 server.
Normal support from IBM in different versions is two levels down, one level up. This mewans:
Vx client can connect to Vx-2 server. V6.1 client therefore would allow you to connect to V5.2 or V5.0 server.
I may be off by one version but the Quick Beginnings and/or the release notes for your V6.1 client should tell you.The CCA and Generate Profile require the SERVER to be at V5.0 at least if not V5.2.
All of these functions were V5.0 and up for servers.HTH, Pierre.
