I don't agree to "obscure": We could point the user (in the error message which
is presented to her) to the solution:
  Only KDE up to version <max_version> is known to work with OOo. You are using
version
  <current_version>. If you are sure that this version works, too, see <url> for
how to enable it.
Would this still be "obscure"?

Well, less than 3 years ago KCmdLineArgs::Init changen incompatibly, didn't it?
;) Can we (at least nearly completely) *guarantee* than *none* of the many KDE
APIs we call will change before the next stable KDE is released? OOo 2.0.x might
be the most recent stable OOo version for two years or so, I don't like the idea
to start crashing it next year ...
