So to make things work on your side you have to patch your system hsqldb. But this only helps all OOo users which know the same maintainer. My personal opinion is the SYSTEM_HSQLDB is currently not working as expected. It will work when our patches get integrated into a hsqldb release. Frank mentioned release 1.8.0.8 where we also have to include the patch for this issue of course to make things work.
