well, yes, but...
I realise my way is sort of a hack. However, I do view it as a quick and
easy way to get things running without cluttering up a machine with about a
gigabyte of unneeded files, if and when you'd prefer not to. To download the
software you'd need to install the Oracle client, it is a 650 megabyte
download, and the installation CDs, at least the ones our company has,
basically require either a standard or enterprise installation of Oracle
itself just to get the client tools on a machine.
Lincoln Baxter's document is very good about all of this....
