You should only install through PPM unless you have a good reason not to.
The reason you are getting this error is because you must have Visual C++
compiler installed on your PC, which is what was used to compiler
ActivePerl. nmake would be what you would use if you had it installed. Try
reinstalling the newest version of ActivePerl and then try using PPM again.
