I run DBD::Oracle against 8.1, 9.0, 9.2, and 10.1, all w/o issues.

Is DBD::Oracle worh using? Depends on what you need to use it for. Me, I use it for
lots of things (RMAN, statspack monitoring and reporting, etc.).

So, what is your Oracle environment when you try to build DBD::Oracle?

Did your Sys Admin read the README* files? The answer will most likely be there.

Subject: Oracle 10.1.0.2, RedHat AS, and DBD::Oracle

We got a fancy new RedHat AS server here at work, and our Sys Admin
installed the Oracle 10.1.0.2 client on it (although the Oracle server
is running version "Oracle8i Release 8.1.7.4.0"). SQL*Plus seems to
work fine for connecting to our Oracle servers, despite the version
difference.

I was attempting to install DBD::Oracle on this machine and, as you
might expect, ran into a few problems.

I guess my first question is: Should I even try to install DBD::Oracle
(v 1.15) with Oracle 10.1.0.2 on RedHat AS? My sense of the situation
is that this version of Oracle is too recent for DBD::Oracle, and I
would prefer _not_ to make hacks/tweaks that are out of the ordinary to
get it to work.

If DBD::Oracle can work with Oracle 10.1.0.2, how exactly do I go about
installing it? My problem is that it says my ORACLE_HOME is not valid,
even though I can run SQL*Plus.

If DBD::Oracle cannot work with Oracle 10.1.0.2, what version of
DBD::Oracle and Oracle would you guys recommend? Remember I am running
on RedHat AS w/ Perl 5.8.0 (although we may upgrade to 5.8.5 soon).

Thanks in advance to anyone who answers!
