Thanks :) But I must warn you of a trap. Apparently you use dbmail for quite some time already, and Thunderbird has most of your messages cached. This is why things work now. Do not try to access this large mailbox from another mail client, which does not have the messages cached. If you do, it will wait for a VERY long time to fetch all the headers for the first time (about 20 messages per second on my machine; assuming the same speed, your mailbox will take 15 to 20 minutes). So if you need to do this, don't rush to kill processes, just wait. It will cache the messages once and work OK after that. Paul's patch won't fix this; it's an attack on the same problem as mine.
