oh i agree totally, my point was simply to get dbmail-smtp to strip the
attachments for me, the actual seraching was going to be done via a
totally separate system, mostly likely php/web front end.

but given roel has informed me that the imap search code ignores/skips the
atachments anyway, there is simply no point now as that solves my issues.
