A few remarks,
If you want to run dbmail-imapd in a production environment, stick with 2.0.1 for now. Unless you trust your
users, *don't* use 1.2.11. The 1.2 series and 2.0.0 in their postgres variants are vulnerable to sql-injection
because queries are not properly escaped, allowing attackers to execute random queries against your dbmail
database by using crafted imap commands.
The experimental packages for 2.1 should not be used in production environments! It says so clearly on the
dbmail site. Common practice holds that experimental repositories in general are not ready for critical
deployments. Caveat empor.
Dbmail-imapd in any version or build can at the moment easily bring down your dual-xeon box if your users rely
heavily on searching large mailboxes with large messages, i.e. for client-side filtering.
However, dbmail-imapd in the 2.0.x series suffers from a occasional stack corruption which can lead to a
runaway in the imap seach code. This explains the massive amounts of queries reported below. It's a problem
that is proving very difficult to track down.
I do run 2.0.1 in production, but not without running a cronjob which checks the load on a machine, and
restarts dbmail when the load becomes excessive.

Thats interesting.. i have only VERY few IMAP users at this point (10
max out of 500 or so)... im wondering if it would be OK to go ahead with
this in mind?
(I have been using IMAP in-house OK)
Mind you the server its going on is a dual-xeon 2.8...

pop3 and lmtp do running good enuf for production purposes. although
you should regulary use the dbmail-util for db-maintance! (btw: why
does dbmail-util not fix null messages?)
imapd ist not ready for production purposes. i can reproduce enormous
stress on the mysql database. compare urself: without imapd: max 500
queries per second
with imapd: max 400000 queries per second
so if u dont have to use imapd you ll get happy with dbmail otherwise...
