I would *not* even recommend 2.0.1's imapd for production environments. i have exactly this version running and even if only a dozen of users uses imapd average, imapd consumes masses of ressources. Sumtimes it even kills the mysqld server. so keep in mind: dont use imapd on production environments. pop3 smtp lmtp are ok, but not imapd - not yet.

if you use it anyway follow Paul's advise to monitor your ressources and restart imapd if the process takes too many instances and consumes too many mysql/mem/cpu ressources...

A few remarks,

If you want to run dbmail-imapd in a production environment, stick with 2.0.1 for now. Unless you trust your users, *don't* use 1.2.11. The 1.2 series and 2.0.0 in their postgres variants are vulnerable to sql-injection because queries are not properly escaped, allowing attackers to execute random queries against your dbmail database by using crafted imap commands.

Thats interesting.. i have only VERY few IMAP users at this point (10 max out of 500 or so)... im wondering if it would be OK to go ahead with this in mind?

(I have been using IMAP in-house OK)

Mind you the server its going on is a dual-xeon 2.8...

pop3 and lmtp do running good enuf for production purposes. although you should regulary use the dbmail-util for db-maintance! (btw: why does dbmail-util not fix null messages?)

imapd ist not ready for production purposes. i can reproduce enormous stress on the mysql database. compare urself: without imapd: max 500 queries per second
with imapd: max 400000 queries per second
so if u dont have to use imapd you ll get happy with dbmail otherwise...
