Hi,

Yes really. You also misunderstand, I was talking about using the SSH client
rather than server - it doesn't have the same behaviour as telnet or nc.

If you read his previous email he was trying to ssh to port 25 to get a
response

>> #-------------------------------------
>> [EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]$ ssh -p 25 192.168.1.78
>> ssh: connect to host 192.168.1.78 port 25: Connection refused
>> #------------------------------------------------

Should the port be open it wouldn't print a response - hence my suggestion
of using telnet or nc.

Cheers

Not really.

$ telnet localhost 22
Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to localhost.
Escape character is '^]'.
SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_4.5
quit
Connection closed by foreign host.

HTTPS was the worse one that didn't give a reply right back. But you can
still see whether you're connected or not.

The iptables rules can be found on fedora in /etc/sysconfig/iptables and
modified there if you know the iptables syntax.

Sorry for OT.
