Hi Maithilee

If you haven't already tried the Data Conservancy at JHU (Sheridan Libraries) might be able to help you directly or point you to someone who can.

I wonder if you have looked at the DDI standard?
http://www.ddialliance.org/

Although it originates in social science I believe it is being applied in longitudinal clinical studies as well.

There has been work on metadata modelling based around the CONSORT best practice guidelines for trial reporting, developed in CancerGrid. If that's relevant the reference is: Davies, J., Gibbons, J., Harris, S., & Crichton, C. The CancerGrid Experience: Metadata-Based Model-Driven Engineering for Clinical Trials. pre-print available at: http://www.cs.ox.ac.uk/people/charles.crichton/

The metadata standards people are using for clinical trial data are definitely something I think others on the list will be interested to hear about.

best wishes,

Angus

All,
I work as a Data Manager at Johns Hopkins School of Public Health in Baltimore,
MD, USA. Our team has been doing randomized clinical trials for the last three
decades and we have lots of longitudinal data to manage. I am trying to learn
more about metadata and how to use that to organize archived data. Is there
anyone on this list who can guide me to a person in the US who can provide
overview and guidance about metadata creation? Books or websites that have
lessons I could take?

If this is not the correct list for this question please let me know and
apologies in advance.

Many thanks.

With regards,
Maithilee
