Here it would rather be a question for the speakup mailing list. Initially it was rather speakup that was managing how key presses etc. should be pronounced, and using the i18n files to provide the translations. But integrated infrastructure for managing that hasn't really materialized. That's why it's simpler for now to just pass on the content to espeakup and let espeak-ng know how key presses should be pronounced in the local language. But that was enabled for d-i only, not the installed system. Samuel
