Since this spring, the nic-modules udeb has grown in unpacked size by about 600k. Since the d-i is too big to fit on a floppy right now, we need to trim this back drastically.
What I think the nic-modules udeb needs to do is include drivers for the 50% of cards that are in 95% of computers. The other 50% can go in a nic-modules-oddballs later on, when we are worrying about adding support for the other 5% of systems to debian-installer. If you remove the following, it will be pretty much back to the size it used to be: tokenring/* yellowfin.o tlan.o sis900.o hp100.o epic100.o dmfe.o dgrs.o acenic.o This is just a guess, if you think any of these are in the common 50% of cards, keep them where they are. If you think any of the other modules are not in the common set of cards, remove them instead. You know better then I, I'm sure. Unless it interferes with the freeze (package waiting for testing or something), please sort this out and upload as soon as you can. I'd really like to get debian-installer cut back to a usable size by Wednesday. If you can't upload for freeze reasons, please put it up somewhere so I can download it by hand. -- see shy jo -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
