Hi All
I'm working from the nightly builds of squeeze. I've noticed a number of
desktops and servers I have been testing with squeeze have been generated
with incorrect partition tables, causing data loss and corruption.
Using the text GUI partitioning tool it appears to make the cylinders
I'd say "don't"..:-)
I have seen few, if any, activity to maintain cfdisk recently.
So, using it during d-i is probably a not-so-good idea. I wonder if we
should really keep it (at least for arches where partman is working
properly).
Not sure what you mean by don't do partitioning during installs.
Partitioning drives is a key part of installation.
I didn't use cfdisk to partition the system, I used the debian installer
"manual" selection instead of guided. I still think people need the
option to be able to manually select what partitions they want to use.
I've switched to using fdisk from console to manually created the
partitions needed during installation in the short term till this bug
gets resolved.
I'd see it as critical as I saw data corruption and loss on all squeeze
installations as a result of this bug.
