Thank you.  Indeed, only the vesa driver is being used.  It tries first
to load the "nv" driver but it is not installed.

That's because it is in the non-free section.  You could download it
directly from:  https://packages.debian.org/sid/xserver-xorg-video-nv

(p.s. it is freely-licensed, open-source code, but was put in the non-
free section because of concerns the code is unclear and not well-
documented IIRC)

The proprietary Nvidia driver almost certainly will not compile on
GNU/kFreeBSD.  (Only specific version of GNU/Linux and FreeBSD are
supported at all).

Someday we may have the nouveau driver on GNU/kFreeBSD.
